Description

Spawn is the living fungal culture, called mycelium, grown onto a substrate. Think of it as the equivalent of seeds for a mushroom farm. The spawn is used to transfer mycelium onto any material from which mushrooms will grow, called a substrate.

A certain amount of spawn can inoculate (to produce immunity) a much greater amount of substrate; resulting in many more mushrooms than if you used spawn alone.  There are many different kinds of substrates, Stumps, Compost, Paper/paper products (make sure any inks used were non-toxic), Cardboard (again, only if non-toxic dyes were used), Used coffee grounds (organic), Used tea leaves (organic), Gardening debris, Other organic materials such as seed shells, corncobs, and banana fronds.
